NAMUUU-TECH (formally VMS REDBARE & SENTINEL rebreathers) CCR DIVER

PURPOSE.
The course is designed to train competent divers in the safe use and technology of the VMS Redbare CCR and the Sentinel CCR formally VR technology.

PREREQUISITES.

Must be qualified as an Advanced EANx Diver or Advanced Recreational Trimix Diver. This program may be used as a combination course.
Must be a minimum of 17 years of age.


PROGRAM CONTENT.

Confined water session.
Minimum of 6 Open water dives with a minimum of 500 mins in water time, unless already Open Water CCR qualified when this can be reduced to 400 mins. over 4 dives.
Pass specific CCR tests with a minimum pass rate of 80%.
Students must carry a single stage or other suitable bailout gas adequate for a safe ascent.
2 dives deeper than 15m & 2 deeper than 30m.

(When qualifying from one unit to another, a diver must have 12 CCR dives of which one must be within 45 days of the program of the new unit & complete 200 mins of in water time over a minimum of 2 open water dives.

PROGRAM LIMITS.

Mandatory decompression stops must be limited to a max of 15 mins.
No dives deeper than 48m & END not to exceed 24m.
PPO2 on bail out gas not to exceed 1.6.
Diluent PPO2 not greater than 1.1.

EQUIPMENT.

Dry suit.
Minimum 7L stage / bail out cylinder in O2 service.
2 timing devices minimum or dive computers
Knife or Cutting tool.
Slate.
Orange DSMB and reel or spool.

Most equipment, except the rebreather is available for hire if required.

SKILLS.

The atlas.nammu-tech website has full details including skill demonstrations of various repairs and maintenance procedures.

Predive checks.
Pre dive breathe (5 mins)
Leak checks at 6m.
Low set point selected for descent and set point switch at planned depth.
Descent and addition of gas manually.
Open Circuit bail out drills. Static & moving.
2 Open Circuit ascents from 6m.
On one dive ascend from 9m and record time and gas required for future planning & bail out purposes.
PPO2 monitoring, not more than once per minute, or less than 4 mins.
Propulsion techniques. Modified flutter, frog & dolphin & standard flutter kicks
Buoyancy and Trim.
Hyperoxia due to Solenoid jammed open drills. (Manual control of valve.) maintain set point for 10 mins during one dive.
Hypoxia solenoid jammed shut drills. (manual O2 addition.) maintain set point for 10 mins.
Dive unit in full manual control for one dive.
Optimum loop volume.
Emphasis on not going back on the loop following an Open Water bailout unless the cause of the problem has been identified and corrected.
